Q.

3 YR OLD CRYING IN HIS SLEEP

My son who will be 3 in Dec cries in his sleep nearly every night - sometimes 3,4,5 times during the night. This has been happening for the last 6-8 months. What could it be? He is very healthy, seems very happy, dont see any obvious signs of a bully at nursery school, has adapted fairly well to his new 4 month old sister. Is this a phase that this age of children go through. Can I try to give him Rescue?

This is very common in young children and in almost all cases there is no obvious reason found. It is usually a passing phase. If he wakes up he will need comforting as he may be having night terrors. I prefer not to give any sedatives, even something as gentle as Rescue remedy.
