3 year old vomiting yellow phlegm, sore chest and throat with runny nose

My 3 year old son has been sick on and off for the past 2 months, he started creche this year. The last 3 nights his cough sounds a lot worse and he has been vomiting up yellow phlegm. He also wakes up from the cough and cries, he said that his chest, tummy and throat are sore. His nose has also starting running. He doesn't have a fever, it has been below 38 but he feels warm and sweats a lot during the night even when it's freezing ( He refuses to sleep under a blanket, just thick pjs). Should I take him to a Dr? His teacher said he coughs very little at school but it gets worse at night and early mornings.

It is very likely that your son has whooping cough as his cough and symptoms are very suggestive of this illness. He should be seen by a doctor preferably by a paediatrician. Ask the paediatrician if it is possible that your son has whooping cough. If it is whooping cough, your son will need to be treated on an antibiotic and a short course of cortisone such as Aspelone for 5 days.
