3 year old talking &  hearing concerns

Dear Doc

My son is 3 years old. He started talking at one and a half years but now he doesn''t want to talk,he only says mama nothing else. When he started talking he could say words like mama, tata, bhola (ball), baba, andifuni(i don''t want), etc. What could be the problem?

The other thing is that when you talk to him and there''s no eye contact he does not respond unless you make eye contact. He''s been to different doctors and they say there''s absolutely nothing wrong with him. Should we be concerned.

Thanks in advance

You have asked a very important question. I am concerned about your son who hardly says any words at the age of 3 years. It also seems that he cannot hear. You should take him to an audiologist first so that his hearing can be tested.Once you are sure that he can hear the next step will be to see a speech therapist. The audiologist will advise you what to do once your son has had his hearing tested.
