Q.

2wk old difficulty in passing stools

please help. My 2wk old bottlefed baby(s26) has extreme difficulty in passing stools. She strains and grows red in the face when she needs to go and her stools are pasty and hard. What can I do to help her ? Have tried massaging her tummy

Unfortunately this is common in formula fed babies, but easily treatable. Your doctor should be able to prescibe a mild laxative (like Lactulose) to use for a few days continuously and then as necessary. Do not use suppositories for prolonged operiods of time.
