20-MONTH OLD GIRL EATS HAIRS!

i am really worried about my daughter as she keeps eating hairs. In fact when she doesn't find any around her she pulls off her own hair. The more I try to make her stop this habit the more persistent she becomes. She gets rid of some of them as I can see on her pampers but Who knows if any are still in her stomach. I have heard that it is dangerous. What am I advised to do to make sure that she stops eating any of them and that none of them are left in her stomach?
Please help.

This is a very difficult problem at her age. She may well develop problems if she swallows too much hair which can form a ball of hair in her stomach. It is very difficult to reason with a child of this age and scolding her will not help.Is she a happy child? She needs lots of love and attention. If you work during the day is it possible for her granny to look after her rather than putting her in a creche?
