15 month old

Hi dr
My daughter is 15 months old &  has an extremely strong will. She already throws tantrums when she wants something &  we don''t give it to her. How do you appropriately ''discipline'' such a young child? At the moment I only say firmly ''no'', but that doesn''t seem to help - she just screams louder and louder. I feel that she''s a bit young for any other kind of punishment, but on the other hand I get a sense that she''s well aware of what she''s doing. And then it also doesn''t help that I have a 3 year old son that expect my daughter to get the same punishment as him.
Thanks for all your advice.

Your daughter seems to be very clever and certainly has a strong will.Temper tantrums are very common at this age. When she starts with her tantrum tell her in a clear firm voice to 'Stop that immediately!' Do not plead with her to stop.If she does not stop take her to her room and close the door. Leave her there until she is quiet. Do this each and every time without fail when she has a tantrum. She will soon learn to stop this behaviour.
