Q.

12 month old - please assist

Good Day Doctor

My 12 month old girl, has been having a runny stomach for about two weeks, its a light brown in colour. I have been treating her, with something the pharmacist prescribed, but she got better, and then every second day the problem would persist.
How does one know when this is caused by teething or whether it is indeed diaree. She has nt had fever, but is very irritable and cryish.
She was on Isomill 2 - I switched her over to Nido 1+ about 4 weeks ago, she was fine the first week, but after then this problem occured.

Would sincerely appreciate your advise

Regards

She is either allergic to milk or has a lactose intolerance. Stop the NIDO immediately. She can only have soya milk so go back to the Isomil2 until she settles down and then give her the soy milk you buy in supermarkets. Cut out all dairy products from her diet as well eg yoghurt.

I have twins who had runny tums all the time I would give them something to stop and it would reccur again in a week or two. The last paed I saw told me to leave their runny tums run and just make sure they do not dehidrate I gave them hydrol and actually they had a bug cause when they checked the stools there was some bug. But it worked for over a month now there hasn't been any runny tums and they are back on formula
