Childhood Diseases

My son is 10 years old and every since he was small has had at least 1 accident in his pants a month sometimes even a month. There has been times were he will go for 3 months and no accidents. I have ensured that he gets enough fibre in his diet to avoid him getting constipated. The other thing is instead of him going and cleaning himself striaght away he will walk around with it in his pants. sometime for hours or until I notice it and send him to clean it. Could be be a medical problem or should I send him to a shrink? I am now at the end of the line and dont know what else to try.

In most cases when a child of your son's age still soils his pants like this and especially walks around with soiled pants there is usually a psychological cause. This problem is known as 'encopresis'.It would be best to consult a child psychologist about this problem.
