10 week old baby is constipated

My wife started giving Nan formula 5 days ago to our 10 week old baby boy because her breastmilk is drying up.
He has been on the formula for 5 days now and we noticed that he is having difficulty passing stools, when he does pass stools it is a thick green and very smelly stool, please advise.
Should we keep on giving him Nan? Can we add something to his milk to losen up his tummy?

Some babies become constipated on formulas which are perfectly good for others. This problem with constipation is almosst certainly related to the formula as constipation was only noticed once the formula was started. It would be a good idea to try another formula such as Lactogen1 and see if this helps for the constipation.

the more she breastfeeds, the more milk she WILL have.....breastmilk never ' dries up' ! why not try and get him back on the breast?
