Q.

Food get stuck in Esophagus and terrible acid re-flux

For the last 6 years I've been struggling with food getting stuck in my Esophagus. Seen many doctors and nobody can really pinpoint what's wrong with me. Lately I can eat less and less and am loosing weight. The last 6 years I've lost 26 kg. I was very overweight but if I keep on losing weight at this rate I can't think that it will be good. Even fluids sometimes get stuck and just come out. The last few weeks another symptom appeared: terrible re-flux and I can't sleep at night. With Covid-19 I can't go to see the doctor (gastroenterologist,) Is there something I can do in the meanwhile to help these symptoms? I've started to take Reuterina daily chews. I am starting to think It is a food allergy, because I can't eat bread at all anymore. Drinking water help to force food down but sometimes the food just comes out without warning. I'm on soft foods and am drinking Herbalife to try and get in enough nourishment.

If food is getting stuck in the Oesophagus, you need to urgently see a Gastroenterologist to do a camera endoscopy and biopsy. Strictures can lead to Cancer of the Oesophagus which can present like this, otherwise an allergic condition called Eosinophilic Oesophagitis may be present. Either way you need a specialist endoscopy.
