Q.

Extensive torn ligaments but no pain?

I I tore off all 3 my ligaments on my right foot an broke a small bone. And it is swelling the whole time but why isn't it as sore as every thinks it is?

Hi there,


Have you had imaging (x-rays, ultrasound, CT or MRI scan) showing the exact extent of the damage to the ligaments and bony structure? If all the ligaments are all completely torn (grade III injury), with a bone fracture, then it is usually very painful and swollen. If your diagnosis is correct, and it's not that painful, then you're very fortunate. You may however need a surgical opinion, as well as extensive rehabilitation of that ankle sooner rather than later.
