Sport star injuries: We all love a great comeback!

These sport stars have all successfully bounced back after their injuries.

Sports injuries can mean the end of a sporting career for many an athlete, but these stars have had great comebacks after enduring a sport injury

Rafael Nadal, the Spanish tennis player, is currently ranked number five in the world. After a knee injury Nadal took seven months to rest and receive aggressive treatment and therapy.


Jean de Villiers was back on the field after experiencing a serious knee injury.

Sachin Tendulkar made a comeback to the cricket pitch after a tennis-elbow injury.

SA paralympian medalist Ilse Hayes, recovered from a back injury and went on to win gold in the IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha.  


Arsenal player Aaron Ramsey made an incredible comeback to the football field after breaking a leg.

Maria Sharapova has suffered multiple leg and forearm injuries during her career.


On the South African Test tour of India in November Vernon Philander tore ankle ligaments but has recovered since and is back on the cricket field.


During his training for the World Cup Luis Suarez injured his knee. He only missed one World Cup game and was soon back on the field representing his country.
