Q.

I can't sleep during the day

When i try to take a nap during the day i get nightmares( trying to raise my head or screaming but no voice coming out, it feels like someone is holding me down) this last about a few seconds and it also happens almost every two days at night a few times before i can get sleep usually 15-30 minutes into the sleep. I went to the GP he gave me some pills but it continued then he sent me to an ex-ray, which nothing was found in my head. I decided to go to a physician he test for thyroid and found it to be normal he gave me anxiety pills and suggested sleeping patterns and how i should not sleep on my back but still i struggle before getting some sleep. I don't know whats wrong with me because this happens every two days and a few times before i can sleep, I sometimes feel like iam dying during these episodes.

Apologies for the late reply but my emails have been diverted without my knowledge. What you describe are hypnopompic hallucinations and usually occur randomly without meaning anything. If they are associated with severe daytime sleepiness then they may indicate something different and a significant sleep disorder.
