Q.

How can I stop 'lip smacking' when I sleep?

So for about a year now, I have been doing what my girlfriend refers to as 'lip smacking' and it's only continued to get worse. Initially, after the first few weeks of it being persistent, I went to the doctor and they asked for a video to see what it was. I got the recording and it showed the 'lip smacking' to be what I would compare to be the same as if you emphasised the noise between your lips if you did a slow, fake chew. This mainly happened when I re-positioned during my sleep and only lasted a few seconds each time. The doctor reviewed this and did not feel it to be a form of nocturnal epilepsy/seizure. As time has progressed, my girlfriend will no longer share a bed with me because of it and on the occasions that we do share, she says it is getting worse in that it is more frequent and more prolonged. What would cause this and how can I stop it? It doesn't directly affect my sleep, only by my girlfriend trying to get me to stop it because it disturbs her sleep. My BMI is around 25, don't smoke or do drugs, rarely drink and no other current medical problems or meds.
