Swollen inside nostrils and sense of smell is reduced

In August I had a flu that affected my sense of smell, I went to GP, 1st gave me antibiotics for fever, and the fever was gone, but the sense of smell did not come back. After 3 weeks went to the 2nd GP, he said my nostrils inside are swollen, he gave me antibiotics, nasal spray and supplements. After 3 weeks the sense of smell was not back, and I had noise in my left ear, that interrupted my sleep. At this time I went to the 3rd one, who said the smell will eventually come back on its own, She gave me same antibiotics as the 2nd GP and some tablets for allergies. Now its November, my sense of smell is not back. Today I went to ENT Dr, he said my nostrils are still swollen, did x-ray and said he will clean it. Now my question is how long does this minor operation take? He said after I can go home. Please help me.

It’s not clear from your query exactly what operation will be done. Usually using a nasal steroid spray for 6-10 weeks sorts it out. If not, then one does a CT scan to check the sinuses and consider the possibility of sinus surgery, which is usually a day procedure.
