Q.

Son has had four operations and the polyps grow back quicker each time twice with fungi infection

Hi I am a desperate mother. My son has chronic rhinitis with the first polyps showing at 14y he was operated on and clear for approximately three years but since then has had three more in four and half years. The second was found to contain fungus infections throughout his head, he was put on medication and began tests for CF which eventually they decided were negative after two genome testings. He has been on high dosages of steroids and antibiotics. He uses nasal washes with saline and topical sprays. His fourth operation which was only one year after the last one found very aggressive fungus disease and widespread bone erosion. This is only just getting under control but the first new polyp has already grown and he can no longer breathe through his nose..we are back to the start again and no one here has any idea what to offer, Please help he  just turned 22 but is becoming so despondent and scared about his future and we have run out of options here in -London England

It’s a frustrating condition and often requires multiple surgeries, but steroid rinses, low dose macrolide antibiotics and verapamil have shown promise in reducing the likelihood of recurrence.
