Q.

My right nostril feels like it's only partially open

I had a nasty cold followed by a sinus infection, followed by another cold dating all the way back to mid December. I took 20 days of antibiotics, 3 days of Afrin, 5 days of an oral steriod, a few stints on Sudafed PE, as well as Flonase and Zyrtec. The whole time my right nostril/nasal cavity has felt only partially open, while my left side has opened up. The infection is gone (according to the doctor) and I'm only using Flonase once a day, taking one Zyrtec a day and using a neti pot a couple times a day, but while my right nostril/nasal has opened up a bit, it feels like it's not letting in the same amount of air as the left. The thing is that the blocked feeling can come and go and sometimes even switch to the left side--and this can happen in a matter of minutes. What could that be about? Pesky mucus trapped up there? Inflamed blood vessels from blowing my nose the last month and a half? I've seen three GP doctors and they don't have many answers. Thank you for any info!

The nasal cycle of blood flow alternates from one side to the other and is more noticeable with a cold and with a narrow nasal airway on one side such as with a polyp or deviated septum. Best to ask an ENT to have a look with a scope.
