Q.

Sinus infection

I have been suffering from constant sinus infections for 17 years - I had surgery in 2015 and things were good for a while. This year it got bad again and I have been on Augmentin 3x and it's not clear. I have recently had blood tests done to show there is a presence of allergies - and I am seeing an allergist for a full range of tests next week. To me it feels like the constant swelling is back even when I go through periods of it feeling at its best - could this be due to the polyps returning? Once I find out how to treat my allergies is it not worth having the surgery again to clear out damaged or infected tissue and polyps?

You should ask your ENT to scope your nose and sinuses to see if there is recurrence. If minor, it can be treated medically. Usually we keep patients in a nasal spray long term to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
