Q.

I have painful swelling in my jaw

I had surgery ten years ago ago and have a titanium plate in my jaw, which is right where the swelling is at. I ended up getting trigeminal neuralgia as a result of the surgery and the swelling and pain is starting to initiate a tn attack. I’m concerned about an infection around the titanium plate. I have no oral lessions and all teeth have been removed.

A scan/xray should reveal if there is an infection present. See your surgeon who performed the operation (if possible) as the old x-rays can be compared to the current ones.
