850,000 die from malaria each year

It's unacceptable that an estimated 850,000 people die each year from a mosquito bite - with nearly 90% of all malaria deaths in sub-Saharan Africa, most of them children under 5.

It's "unacceptable" that an estimated 850,000 people die each year from a mosquito bite - with nearly 90% of all malaria deaths in sub-Saharan Africa, most of them children under five - the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) said.

But these campaigns needed to be expanded, along with the increased use of Artemisinin-based Combination Therapies to treat patients.
