Q.

Tvt sling removal

good day want to ask i was placed with a tvt sling when i had urge incontinence and not stress incontinence.Now have to do self cath battling with total bladder outlet obstruction.Vesicourethral reflux and cystitis.Drs can now only cut the sling will that help? what about the remaining mesh inside can that also be removed here in South Africa and which Urologists can be recommended as i am desperate.If i was told in the beginning about these risks and complications i would have never have done this op.

Dear Mia

Cutting the tape is a good option. The remaining mesh is not an issue, we usually leave it there. The body heals over it. The mesh has holes in it, which allow the tissue to grow into it and fix it in place, but make it extremely difficult to remove.
