Q.

Self catheterisation for urinary incontinence

Hi, I'm 50 with 3 kids. I maintain my weight, bike, run and lift weights at least 5 times per week. I've only recently seen a urologist for the first time to address both stress and urinary incontinence. My urologist has informed that I am unable to properly empty my bladder so I need to retrain it. This involves self catheterization. I am not clear on how this will help? She has also started me on myrbetriq.

Dear Liz

It sounds like you are retaining large volumes of urine.
By doing self catheterisation, you will empty your bladder completely, and therefore leak less.
Kind regards
Prenevin
