Incontinence

Q.

Is a urinary catheter an option for my 92 year old mother with severe incontinence?

My mother does not have any bladder control at all. We are struggling with the incontinence issue and can not stay on top of it. She has about 10% ambulation and sits in a wheelchair 70% of the day. She does have fecal continence and is able to move from wheelchair to toilet for that but would not be able to perform this task more than once or twice a day any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A urinary catheter is certainly an option.

It does carry a risk of infection, but would make nursing your Mum much easier. I would discuss this option with your Doctor.
