Q.

Can pelvic floor exercises help a male who has a catheter?

I have an enlarged prostrate and retained urine which affected the kidneys. The urine was drained over 4 days with no damage to the kidneys. I have bee catheterised for 7 months as my bladder muscles are not working. Can exercises help develop muscles even though a catheter remains in place

Dear Alex

From what you are describing, you have an atonic bladder. If you have already had a TURP (resection of prostate), and you are still unable to pass urine, an option to consider would be sacral neuromodulation (Interstim therapy).
Kind regards
