Q.

Hypertension

I have been on bp medication for over 5 years but still its hard to maintain it as in keep it low , I take HCT, Amlodipine, and Enalapril , however I heard that black people do not respond well to Enalapril and that could be the reason my bp is not controlled How far true is that?

It seems as if it is used as an excuse for your uncontrolled BP...and that is not correct, but the point is, if your BP is not controlled, medicine should be added until control is reached, to prevent damage. It seems that you need another BP tablet added to the current combination. HCTZ and Enalapril may be combined into one tablet, so that, actually, you are currently taking 2 BP tablets. A beta blocker or alpha+beta blocker may be added.
