Q.

Blood pressure

Hi Dr de Villiers, I am 35 years old with hypertension (diagnosed and treated with Prexum 5mg 6 months ago). I have implemented some lifestyle changes and I take my blood pressure daily on my Braun digital device. My average blood pressure over 30 days is 134/96. I can’t seem to get to 120/80. Is my average BP concerning? Should I be on a higher dose of medication?

I wonder if you are the same patient as the question just before you. The aim is 120/80, and yes, it seems that an increased dosage of medicine is needed. Prexum is Perindopril and there is a different brand that has an 8mg tablet, or you may ask your dr for Prexum Plus.
