Samsung adds heart-rate monitor to smartphone

Samsung has unveiled heart-health and fitness among its new focus areas when the electronics company revealed that its new smartphone has a built-in heart-rate monitor.

Knowing your ideal heart rate is one way of making sure you keep your heart healthy and pick up warning signs that all might not be well.

Major companies across all sectors have been trying to tackle some of the thorniest problems in health and medicine technology startups with different apps.

To promote fitness, Samsung has also unveiled a fitness band, Gear Fit, to complement the heart-rate monitor and two new computerized watches.

With these features healthy living will be made easier for individuals who do not  the time to manually track and record their activity, the company said.
