Fifth of cardiac implants harmful

One out of five patients who receive a well-known cardiac implant don't need it and are at greater risk of dying of heart attacks because of the device, a US study said.

The study was carried out by doctors at Duke Clinical Research Institute and published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
