Q.

ear ache

I am a 32 year old female, and I have had ear ache on and off for about a year now.It is just in one ear, right one wich is also deaf. The hearing nerve was damaged in surgery to remove some beads I put in when I was 4. Normaly I only have this problem in the winter, It started when I moved to the Netherlands 8 years ago. Now it has not gone away. I have been to a docter, but he cant see anything wrong. So I went to a specialist, and she put in a grommit.I am not sure if it is working, because I have a cold now. The pain also seems to effect my jaw and thraot. Could this be conected?? It is also itchy, and sometimes feels like I have a knife in my ear.

Dear Dawn

It is possible that the pain in your jaw and throat and ears could be connected. Give the grommets a try and definitely go back to your specialist after your cold has cleared up. The purpose of the grommets is to release fluid in your middle ear.

Please let me know if you have more questions or if the problem doesn't clear up after treatment
