I fully understand your frustration. It can be very irritating when your ears are blocked. The reason why your voice sounds funny is because of what we call occlusion. The voice that you hear through air conduction (through your ear) is softer than the voice you hear through bone and tissue conduction. Once the block goes away your voice will return to normal. There are several possibilities for the blocked sensation. Some of the possibilities are very easy to fix and some can be more serious. It could be anything from wax, Eustachian tube dysfunction, normal pressure changes or part of a more serious problem. The first step would be to find out what the cause is. You can see several people to help you find this out; your GP, Audiologist or ENT specialist. Please write to me on my e-mail address if you require any further referrals or information:

I have a similar problem to "Help". My GP recommended "Wax-all" and suggested that I come in after three days of using the suggested medication and have my ears syringed.

I have not been as I am terrified of such a procedure. I am not sure how painful this procedure!
