Dear Chopper/Arhur Castle
This definitely sounds like a good plan, but unfortunately the medical aids (as from my experience) do not work like that. The benefits that are available will be per year will be lost if you do not use it. I have worked with a few medical aids that were willing to combine two years. check with your medical aids and speak with them they might ce willing to do that. It might be necessary for you to get a motivational letter from a hearing care professional.
If the medical aid is not willing to do any of this you can look at other alternatives. You must also remember all the other factors to take into consideration. If there is a loss of hearing present in both ears you need a hearing aid in both ears. It is more important to have amplification in both ears than to have a very expencive aid in the one ear. you loose all the benefits from that one very sophisticated aid!
There are a few new digital hearing aids available in the price range of R5000 to R6000.00. Theses aids are fully digital and and compatible with cell phones. You could than use the benefit this year and next year and have two digital aids.
If you need any information on these products please reply to this and i could give you info.
