I have just recovered from bronchitis and have found over the last 2 weeks my right ear is blocked for sound. it feels as if i am in a aeroplane and need to yawn to open my ears. i have used ear drops and tried to clean with warm water but nothing has helped. please advise?

It is advisable to rather let a professional have a look for you in your ear. There are a number of possibilities, it could be wax, it could be fluid in the middle ear, it could be that the pressure is a problem in the ear because of the Eustachian tube not functioning correctly or it could be related to other conditions. You also need to make sure if the ear is blocked or if your hearing has changed in that ear. It is further advisable to have your hearing and middle ear functioning evaluated by an Audiologist. If you don't know of someone in your area, then please let me know and i will gladly refer you (izabelle@widex.co.za)

Please let me know if you need any further information

kind regards

amazing , so many people suddenly have blocked ears! i have had ablocked left ear for weeks,it opens and closes throughout the day, though must admit more close than open.
it is frustrating as i cannot hear a sound through the ear.made an appointment to see ENt, but have to wait 7 days for an appointment.
I know of about 7 other people with the same problem! help , can it be viral?

Funny you mention the blocked ear story. I have the same sensation going on 2 weeks. My husband has had it, my mom my inlaws my friend and the list goes on. My husband went to the doc and was also told to just ride it out. Take decongesters thats it. I have no other flu like symptoms, neither did the folks...only the blocked ear syndrome. I am starting to wander if there is not a bug going around ?

i have had blocked ears for the past 9 weeks due to a night in a airconditioned room. i have been to my dr. twice and had c/zone spray and to a ENT who gave my NO med' s at all then
the a specialist pyh.who hagve me multi vit' s and mediciation for an ulcer (which i don' t have) i have terrible nausea and have medication for this from every dr. THIS little effort has cost me R7000,00 as i do no have a medical aid and i am fast running out of money. WHAT can i do to open my ears, i am desperate.
