Q.

BF WHO IS HARD OF HEARING

My BF was born with hearing loss, and over the years it is just getting worse (he is now nearly 30).
He wears a hearing aid - but it is a fight to get him to wear it, and it is faulty - we have taken it back 4 times in the last year.
He is now due for another one, but we obvisouly don't want to go back to the same group. Can you recommend any one in the Durban area?
He is now wearing headphones to watch TV, which I personally believe are making a bad situation worse, as he has the volume really high and he becomes lazy about trying to listen and to wear his hearing aid.
Any advice would be really appreciated!

Dear SC

It is good to see your concern for BF and you are right, he should wear his hearing aids and if he listens to the TV or music through headphones with the volume to high, it could cause further damage. Please write to me on my e-mail address izabelle@widex.co.za and give me a more complete history. i will gladly refer you to someone in the Durban area. There could be a lot of reasons for him not wanting to wear the hearing aids or not seeing the benefit of them. We need to find out what the reason is.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon
