Prisons expand HIV services

Obtaining HIV treatment in jail is becoming easier as about 9% of South African prisons now offer antiretroviral drugs in-house.

Obtaining HIV treatment in jail is becoming easier as about 9% of South African prisons now offer antiretroviral (ARV) drugs in-house.

According to South Africa's Institute for Security Studies, the country's 240 correctional facilities house 160,000 prisoners - a third more than they were originally designed for.
