Colds and flu

Is it okay for pregnant women to take cough medicine?

When my 5' friend Annette was pregnant with her two children she caught acute bronchitis both times. She took some OTC cough medicine to calm her bronchitis coughs although Cupcake was lukewarm taking any cough medicine while carrying her kids yet they both were normal! I too feel hesitant about pregnant women taking cough medicine yet the cough medicine Annette took was just Vicks Cough Syrup! Are pregnant women more prone to bronchitis colds or flu?

Yes, pregnant women are more prone to develop the flu or bronchitis, because their immune systems are affected by pregnancy. There are a few cough syrups that are safe in pregnancy, but a pregnant woman should always first check with her gynaecologist if it is okay to use.
