Q.

Vaccines available in SA

Hi - both trivalent and quadrivalent flu vaccines are available in SA. Is the quadrivalent vaccine available a recumbent vaccine? What do I advise the oldie re flu vaccine? Which is best?  Are Medical Aids paying for both

Hi there

I have had correspondence from some medicals aids that they are not covering the quadrivalent vaccines such as Vaxigrip Tetra (which is an inactivated vaccine - the virus has been killed, so it is not live attenuated). I am not sure what they cover for 'older' people :-) I would check with your medical aid, and take the one that they cover. Good luck and stay safe!
