Prevent bathroom burns

accreditation
The bathroom, and particularly the bathtub, can be a dangerous place for a child. How can you prevent a tragedy?

Take action:

Never leave a baby or child under four alone in the bath; use a rubberised mat to prevent slipping; pull the plug out once you have finished; get a lockable cover for jacuzzis or sunken baths; always run the cold tap first and check the temperature before your child gets in – you need to be extra careful once your child is old enough to get into the bath without help; test the temperature with your elbow before putting the child into the water – your hands quickly become accustomed to the water temperature and you won’t get a true impression of how hot it is; and turn the hot water thermostat to 50°C or less to avoid scalds.
