Q.

My eyes aren't adapting to contacts. Help!

Hi Doc I am short-sighted and have been for most of my adult life. I really like wearing glasses and so it is not an issue for me at all. However, I do various sports where either it is almost impossible to wear glasses or it is very difficult to do so. I have tried contacts several times in my life, even the one day only softest of the soft and they still irritate me. I have given it time, but my eyes won't adapt, they always feel scratchy and I am always aware of the lenses. Any suggestions?

Hi there

Contact lenses are a foreign body and it is just a matter of time and a good lens for your eyes to adjust. I would suggest building up your wearing time slowly each day. Eg:: day 1 wear for 1 hour then day 2 for 2 hours and so on. You can also try use a preservative free lubricant whilst wearing the lenses.

Best wishes!
