Erectile dysfunction

Q.

How to ask a doctor to examine erection?

I've recently noticed that I have a small hard lump on the shaft of my penis, but it is neither visibly apparent, nor can it be felt while not erect. I have read answers about dealing with unintentional erections during examination, but how does one bring it up with the doctor when examination would require erection? The very thought is mortifyingly embarrassing, and I don't want the doctor to feel like my request is creepy or has alterior motive behind it.

Dear John

Tell the doctor the lump is only present with an erection. A urologist can induce an artificial erection if absolutely necessary.
