I stopped taking insulin over a week ago but I feel fine, so it seems that I was taking insulin for years for nothing

Hi

You can only be sure that you don't need insulin, if you glucose readings are on track and your HbA1c is at target. There can also be reasons why you might need less insulin, i.e kidneys have been affected, or you have lost weight etc. Suggest regular testing and then seeing your doctor for a follow up.
