Q.

Is this normal

Hi there
My fasting blood sugar was 5.8, is this within the normal range, just curious?

Dear Lily
According to SA guidelines, a fasting glucose(done in the morning after fasting for 8 hours) is considered normal if it is less than 6.1, pre-diabetes if it is between 6.1 and 7, and diabetes if it is 7 or more.
