Insulin resistance

I am a 46 year old female. after months of feeling very ill (shaky, disorientated at times, sweaty, faint) I saw the GP and had a few blood tests. It came back that I have high insulin levels. (insulin resistance) the GP did not give me much info on this and just told me to follow a good diet. It has been three months now and I am following a low GI diet, doing exercise (yoga - but I am going to start walking). I have lost quite a bit of weight and overall am a bit better but I still get times when I feel " groggy" and very tired. My vision also seems to be blurred in the late afternoon. I was taking Antagolin but am now taking manna blood sugar support. any advice, am I doing things right or do I need to do additional things? we have a very strong family history of Diabetes type 1 on the female side which worries me. I have done research on the internet but its hard to know if I am in the right direction or not. Also my HDL was low but the Dr did not say anything about this? I dont know how to increase this

Insulin resistance is an early stage of progression to diabetes, and currently the best way to manage this is with diet and exercise, as weight loss will improve insulin functioning. Antagolin is a substance touted to improve insulin resistance and lower glucose levels but to date has no significant trials to support its use in diabetes prevention or weight loss. In the formal medical community it is not a recognized treatment or is on any of the diabetes guidelines. Losing weight is always hard. The best way is to cut down on total calories, more so than the type of calories, for your body can only burn so many calories a day, and if you eat less than this, then weight loss will occur. Exercise requirements for weight loss are a lot and entail about 60-90 minutes every day. Exercise less than this amount will help you live longer regardless of weight loss and will also help with insulin resistance. Raising HDL is quite difficult, but losing weight will help. If you smoke, then stopping will also help to raise HDL.
