Insulin Resistance

I''ve been diagnosed with insulin resistance. The dr prescribed Glucophage. What are the effects when drinking it? What will also help for the tiredness. I sleep well at night, but during the day I cant keep my eyes open. And I have a running tummy since I started drinking it.

Dear Marida

Glucophage is often used for insulin resistance , or patients who are pre-diabetic. The main side effects are gastrointestinal, i.e. bloating, diarrhea, or cramping. These tend to be temporary, but if persisting, then the dose needs to be decreased or you can get a once a day slow release formulation. Regarding the tiredness, I don’t think that this is related to the Glucophage or the insulin resistance, and unfortunately I have too little other information to make a potential diagnosis
