Gestational Diabetes

Hi, I am 25 weeks pregnant, went for glucose tolerence test for gestational diabetes. Doc says results are mild case of GD, 9.4ml. Prescribed glucophage, 500gm morning and night. Do you think its necessary to take glucophage, if its mild. I am testing my sugar levels every morning and evening. Please advise what is considered normal readings. Should I test in the morning before I eat as well as after, and the same at night. Please advise as I''m clueless

Dear Tanya
When it comes to gestational diabetes, you either have it or you don’t, and if you do then we treat it the same whether your levels are just above the cut off or way above. Regarding the readings, you must test fasting in the morning and your levels should be below 5.3, and 1 hour post meals(1 hour after first bite of food) should be less than 8. If not already, then you should also see a dietician.

Aside from diet and exercise, there are some herbs that are very beieficnal for Blood Pressure. The most popular ones are Fish Oil, Hawthorn Berries, L-Arginine, C12 Peptides (from milk protein casein), Bonito Peptides, and Garlic. As far as Blood Sugar, you can try one of several herbs but if you have full-out Diabetes, you should check with a naturopath or other natural doctor. The reason is because when you''re dealing with something as severe as Diabetes, then too much support can be just as bad or worse than too little support. I can give you a few ideas of where to start looking, but a doctor is your better choice. Good luck!
