Dear Puseletso
A random glucose level above 11.1 would be consistent with diabetes. Advice at this stage would be to see dietician for an appropriate diet, and also to start an exercise programme, with an aim to getting his weight down if he is overweight. I would also suggest monitoring his own glucose levels with a handheld machine(glucometer) , and he should test when he wakes before eating or drinking anything. He should be aiming for a fasting levels of 6. If levels are not coming down, then if not already on medication, he should discuss with his doctor about starting.
