To diagnose diabetes one requires a fasting glucose(done following an overnight fast of 8 hours) of 7 or over with associated symptoms of tiredness, drinking lots of water and passing lots of urine or blurred vision, or alternatively a random glucose reading of 11,1 or more with the same symptoms. If there are no symptoms, then one would require a repeat value above the aforementioned cut-offs .If your random reading was 12.5, then it sound like you may have diabetes, and would suggest doing a formal fasting test with your doctor.
