High glucose levels in a type 1 diabetic can happen for many reasons e.g. incorrect doses, incorrect meals, concurrent infections, injection technique and/or injection site issues, expired insulin, and hormonal problems(thyroid) etc. One needs to work through the various possibilities to try and get the levels better, and if then you are unable to solve the problem, then you will need to discuss with your doctor
