Q.

Stress contribute to insulin resistance?

Hi Dr May - can high volumes of stress contribute to becoming insulin resistant? I have heard that cells can become resistant to insulin if they don't need the extra energy that floods the blood stream in response to stress hormones adrenalin and cortisol. Thank you

Hi

Yes, stress(acute or chronic) can cause or aggravate insulin resistance. Reducing stress is always hard unfortunately
