Q.

A1C

My A1C was 13.1. It was taken while I was dealing with a long term tooth infection. Glucose reading was 311. Doc put me on 5 mg gliburide right away. I had tooth pulled same day and started both gliburide and antibiotic. Next day blood was 150. Stayed on gliburide and lost 15 lbs. 3 months later blood is at 6.3. Still on glyburide. Do I stay on, or go to metformin? Average fasting is about 105. Thank you

Hi

Glucose levels are much better, likely because the infection is better, and because you have lost weight. In view of this metformin may be a reasonable option(doesn't cause low glucose levels), but you would need to talk with your doctor about this
