Q.

Re checking in

Hi Dr Simpson I'm glad you're ok and that you have found a place that delivers! I think animals are going to all wonder what has happened when their owners who have been at home suddenly for so long suddenly go back to work, hmm... I wonder how they deal with that? Take care Dr Simpson

Thanks, Annie, for this pleasant message, which has just reached me.  Yes, this period must be confusing to the animals in our families. I think in some ways they're reacting rather like humans : my cat was at first delighted and a bit puzzled that I was around so much ; but is now getting used to it, but also, like human families, she now occasionally gets a bit irritated : to the point that I wonder what she used to get up to when I wasn't around !
I wonder how some shrink colleagues are managing in their work. I presume they can still see patients in their rooms.  But unless they have a very large consulting room, well,  when I worked in the university hospital,  my clinical room was so tiny, that if we had to keep a meter or two separation,  my patients would have had to sit outside in the corridor ! And we're so used to watching and taking into account people's emotional expressions, it would be odd if we both had to wear masks
